The COVID19 pandemic has had an impact on us all, without exception. We have all felt fear or despair at some point because of the virus. This has caused a change
in our habits, behaviour, and in our relationships.
We have become more aware of everything that surrounds us. We have felt the need to protect our closest ones and to take care
of them, even if this means maintaining a certain social distance.
This prevention against threats has generated an alert that has led us to secure our present while safeguarding our nearest future. One of the
reasons that proves this alert is the high increase of insurance policies, more specifically in the health sector
since the beginning of the pandemics, according to La Vanguardia (2021).
Regarding the role of insurers during COVID19, the Head of Life and member of the Zurich Spain Management Committee, Javier Rodríguez, stated that
“the insurance sector has demonstrated its social vocation helping society and clients to overcome the challenges of the pandemic.” According to El Economista,
the purchase of private health insurance policies increased by 5%, in addition to the interest and demand for life insurance policies.
Although in Spain the vaccine campaign is excellent, the society remains on alert after experiencing one of the most complicated periods in our recent history. Due to this
this uncertainty, the contracting of health and life insurance has been on the rise since the beginning of 2020.
