Who paralyzed the Public Employment Service (SEPE)?

March 2021: 5 million beneficiaries, 710 face-to-face offices and 50 virtual ones are paralyzed. The Public Employment Service (SEPE) has suffered a cyberattack, and 100,000 daily processes are blocked. They ensure that personal data (names, addresses, account numbers…) have not been compromised, but they recommend people to check the authenticity of any email supposedly sent by them, just in case.

“This has not been just a kid with a computer from home”.

There exist organized groups of hackers who can access any device, such as computers, telephones, our e-mails and WhatsApp accounts… We are all exposed. Public bodies and companies must have, by law, a security strategy. If not, they will face a fine of up to 4% of their annual billing, also assuming compensation for damages. Be careful! The Public Employment Service had no security protocol.

This can be the end of a company.

To avoid this, you need to take out a cyber insurance policy which assumes the expenses and technical assistance for crisis management, the payment of possible ransoms, the compensation to people affected (customers, suppliers, employees…), the loss of benefits and possible fraud.

Isn’t this enough for you to think about taking out cyber insurance for your company? We are here to talk, whenever you want…
